Trung tâm kỹ thuật số (CNF) của AUF [1] tại Hà Nội sẽ phối hợp với Hanoilug để mở một lớp học Linux cho những người hoàn toàn không biết gì về Linux ngày thứ bảy 17/05/2008, kéo dài 3 buổi, kết thúc sáng chủ nhật 18/05/2008.

Lớp học sẽ bắt đầu vào 8g00 sáng ngày thứ bảy và 8g30 sáng ngày chủ nhật. Mỗi lớp học chỉ nhận tối đa 12 học viên (thao tác 1 người 1 máy), nhận theo thứ tự đăng ký và nộp phí trước.

Học phí [1] cho lớp học, bao gồm các tài liệu in, các đĩa CD để cài đặt và xem video, các buổi giai lao uống cà fê, là 100.000 VND (người đi làm) và 50.000 VND (học sinh, sinh viên các trường đại học công lập và dân lập). Đặc biệt các bạn nữ sẽ được ưu tiên và sẽ được giảm 30% chi phí (tức là 70.000 đ người đi làm và 35.000 đ cho sinh viên).

Thời gian đăng ký và nộp phí từ ngày 28/04 đến hết ngày 15/05/2008 tại trung tâm CAI-CNF, ngõ 42 Tạ Quang Bửu (Q. Hai Bà Trưng), Hà Nội (ĐT : 868.48.85). Các bạn muốn theo lớp học vui lòng tải một trong 3 loại phiếu đăng ký sau đây :

Nhân dịp sự ra đời của Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, Trung tâm CNF của AUF tại ngõ 42 Tạ Quang Bửu (ĐT: 04-868.48.85) sẽ tổ chức một số sinh họat ngày thứ bảy 10/05/2008, từ 8g30 đến 17g30) như sau:

1) Trung tâm CNF sẽ phát miễn phí 50 bộ đĩa CD (1 bộ = Ubuntu 8.04 live CD desktop + Hanoilug aptoncd to customize Ubuntu 8.04) cho những bạn đến trong ngày thứ bảy 10/05/2008.

2) Sáng thứ bảy 11/05/2008 (lúc 9g sáng) sẽ demo dùng Wubi cài Ubuntu trong môi trường Windows XP Home.

3) Install-party: Các bạn muốn cài Ubuntu 8.04, hoặc nâng cấp 7.10 lên 8.04, có thể đăng ký để mang máy tính đến trung tâm CNF thực hiện trong ngày đó (chú ý, quá trình nâng cấp hoặc cài đặt cũng phải mất trên dưới 60 phút, tùy theo cấu hình máy).

Các bạn Hanoilug muốn giúp tay trong ngày 10/05 (chủ yếu cho bộ phận install-party), xin liên hệ với tôi.

Các bạn hanoilug đang là cán bộ các Trường Viện nghiên cứu, có thể tranh thủ để vận động bạn bè (sinh viên, cán bộ) để đến tham gia ngày đó theo nhóm (có đăng ký trước = CNF có thể dành cho nhóm một máy để làm thao tác cài đâựt đêmô, và bố trí phát CD riêng cho nhóm).

To celebrate the venue of Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS, the CNF center of AUF will organize some activities on saturday 10th May 2008 (8h30-17h30) as follows:

1) Free distribution of 50 CD kits (1 kit is composed of the Ubuntu 8.04 live CD Desktop and of one customized 8.04 Ubuntu aptoncd)

2) Demonstration of the Wubi installer ( at 9h00 am) that allows to install Ubuntu like any other Windows application in the Windows (XP Home) environment

3) Install-Party : allows you to receive help to upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 or to proceed with a new installation of 8.04 (you are advised to register in advance, especially if you think that you need a complex installation/upgrade, and also to allow for a better allocation of time and human resources).

Now there’s a way to convert native ODF documents, thanks to HanoiLUG volunteer JC you can now convert document from ABC and VNI font to unicode. It’s still a command line tool, but it is very easy to use. More information on here http://www.hanoilug.org/dokuwiki/projects:ovniconv.

If you are a Ubuntu user you can get it by using hanoilug repository.

We are looking for someone to package it for Fedora and other distribution. It would also be nice to have someone who can take care of the Fedora repository.

We worked again on the Intel donated server last saturday. In fact we didn’t work that much but we got the following working :

- Traffic shaping with wondershaper, well it’s ain’t big success so far we have to get better control over what we can do with it.
- The script that will enable rsync and wget to download repositories of Ubuntu, Fedora and Debian

And we ate pizza too..

The hanoilug.org server has been upgraded to PHP 5 since PHP 4 won’t be supported anymore in the next stable Debian release.

Some hanoilug members gathered last Saturday to work on the Server Donated by intel. This server is supposed to become an official mirror for linux repositories for vietnam.

For now it is called “virror” (vietnam Mirror)

We have the base install, some virtual servers, the basic internal networking, the next step is finish the syncing, do the traffic shaping then the put the box at Netnam, who is kindly donating the bandwidth and the place to host it

For the record the machine spec are :
